19th CENTURY MANSION Adaptive Reuse, Trouville 2011
Built on a spectacular cliff on the wild side in Normandy, this mansion has been renovated like the traditional seaside villas of the nineteenth century, with a large living area and library sitting on top of a standard room.
The design stems from an organized plan, carefully framing specific views, and alternating the use of sustainable and traditional materials. The creation of a library adjacent to the Manor, retaining the proportions and the architectural style of the whole was a real challenge.
Beyond the "Manoir" itself, and facing the sea, a spectacular, semi-buried spa was built within an existing WWII bunker. The spa includes an indoor pool, a massage room, a cloakroom, a fitness room and sauna in an existing bunker.
